SMC Chequered Plates
An SMC chequered plate is a moulded fiberglass panel with a raised anti-slip surface pattern, used for walkways, platforms and flooring in wet or corrosive industrial areas. We supply SMC chequered plates in customised sizes to construction and industrial projects across the UAE, GCC and Africa.
Material & Custom Sizing
Chequered plates are compression-moulded from Sheet Moulding Compound, giving a panel that is corrosion-proof, non-conductive and provides consistent slip resistance even when wet — properties a steel chequered plate cannot match without ongoing maintenance. Because the plates are moulded rather than pressed from stock steel sheet, thickness, panel dimensions and load rating can be specified to the actual walkway or platform span rather than limited to standard steel sheet sizes, and panels can be supplied with matching edge trims and fixing brackets for a bolted, gasketed installation. This makes SMC chequered plate a practical retrofit for existing steel platforms being upgraded for corrosion resistance, as well as new-build gratings and flooring.
